Jesus True and Only

There is only one answer for every problem, only one healer for every hurt, only one rock in which to hide, only one person who alone can save. His Name is Jesus. He never forsakes His people, He hears every single prayer, He catches every single tear, and He is here. If I was asked what the one thing would be that I would tell someone struggling with anxiety, fear, doubt, or depression, it would be this: Jesus. He is the only one in all my struggles that has never failed me.

God’s Word says in Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” In Isaiah it says, “I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I, the LORD, speak truth, I declare what is right.” (Isa. 45:19) There is no such thing as seeking God in vain. It is impossible to seek God with all our hearts and not find Him. He will never forsake those who seek Him, in fact, he rewards those who earnestly seek Him. (Heb. 11:6)

There will be struggles that we will encounter that won’t make sense, struggles that will threaten to drive us to despair. There will be struggles that will last longer than we can remember, struggles that will drain our energy every day. Sometimes there will be factors in these struggles at play that we won’t be able to recognize or know; that a counselor won’t be able to help with, that previous methods of handling won’t solve. But, “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD. The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.” (Prov. 21:30-31) If we seek Jesus every day, with all our heart, clinging to Him as our only hope, He will not let any plan of the evil one, any situation, or any struggle succeed against us. He alone can save, and He alone knows what we need each and every day and in each and every situation. We can be made ready for the day of battle, but the victory rests with the LORD.

If we have Jesus, we have everything we need for whatever we are facing. He will lead us onto level ground. (Psalm 143:10) He will fill every valley and make every mountain low. (Luke 3:5-6) He will be with us as a dread warrior, making sure that our enemies will not succeed. (Jeremiah 20:10-13) He will lift us up on His shoulders, set us at rest in His love, and shield us all the day long. (Deut. 33:12) His Name in our life cannot be overcome.

So run, run to Jesus. When castles crumble and breath is fleeting, when walls fall and all seems hopeless, run to the Rock and hide under the shadow of His wings.  Hide in Him, rest in Him, and know that He will faithfully lead us and guide us in all things, in every detail for every situation. It might not all come right away, but let’s take heart, Jesus is here, his promises still stand, and He will fulfill everything He has promised us.

So “Do not be afraid, land of Judah; be glad and rejoice. Surely the Lord has done great things!” (Joel 2:21) And, “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” (Luke 1:45) When we don’t know why, or what to do, Jesus is our one answer, let’s seek Him, cling to Him, and believe that He will fulfill his promises to us, and lead us faithfully onto level ground in all things.
